Romanticizing The Bottle Experience

There is no denying that to many, the perfume bottle is half of the appeal of a perfume experience. There have been extravagant bottles used through history, with their ornate designs and delicate decanters. A beauty and luxury I, too, hope to expand into in some regard, at some point. However, I cannot help but to love the bottles we have, exactly as they are, for what they are. Let me allow you into my head a little here to show you what I see.

First, it may help to understand my intention. I like to close the gap between perfumer to consumer, in small but impactful ways. Our perfumes come in small 10ml and 5ml amber bottles with black lids. Nearly identical to the bottles I receive from raw ingredient suppliers that are used to formulate the perfumes. I love that holding one of our finished perfumes feels like holding the ingredients that made it. To a collector, an array of our perfumes would resemble a mini perfumer's organ. Only instead of holding ingredients, it holds finished accords.

Here is an example of a perfumer's organ for reference. This is not mine, the photo is from https://orparfums.com/blogs/journal/perfume-laboratory

In the same heart of closing the gap between perfumer and consumer, I embrace the mixing of perfumes by layering with one another or with other perfumes you may love. Customizing your fragrance experience to each individual, layering and changing as one sees fit. (I am working on layering kits to make this vision more applicable) Our bottles make it easy to do so. With roller perfumes, you run the possibility of cross contaminating one scent to another by rubbing them on the same portion of skin to layer. The reducer cap offers the most versatility and user adaptability in this regard. You and I aren't much different. I blend and formulate to create a desirable finished result. You mix and mingle different scents (perfume, lotion, body oil, perfume oil, edp, hair oil, body mist, scented soaps, etc) to achieve a similar result. I find it beautiful.

There is something so romantic about the unfettered tangibility of a simple, durable bottle. An elegant, ornate bottle comes with a sense of delicacy (at least in my mind). It demands careful handling and curated shelf displays. Which is naturally beautiful in its own right; there is no disregarding that. Our bottles, however, feel like they can be touched, haphazardly tossed on the bed, thrown into a cluttered purse, or shuffled around amongst keys and wallet in a pants pocket. They are meant to be used. To be taken along with you in the day. To be your mid-day fragrance touch up that's always there. They are meant to be just as handy as your emotional support ChapStick that you can't leave the house without. Yes, you can do this with any perfume, but our bottles are designed for it. They are small, leakproof, amber so they reduce the degrading effects UV rays have on fragrance, and affordable enough to not feel too guilty about any scuffs and abuse the labels may take in its daily wear and tear.

I have been romanticizing our perfumes in this light recently, by photographing them in their daily use. As they lay. Unloaded at the end of the day from their person and onto the shelf they live on until the next time. I only have a few so far, but will continue to show them in this light. The light I find them most... real, approachable and aesthetic in.

I look forward to expanding this series and finding new ways of representing the "homes" that they inhabit. I would love to see where your perfumes land at the end of the day.

Last but not least, we are a very small business. A one-man-show, as it stands. So, product pricing and sustainability is very important. Not only to keep it accessible for me to keep making, but for you to keep indulging. I prefer to put the resources I have into quality ingredients, perfume studies, and hands-on packaging to continue to bring my best to the table. Perfume bottles have a wonderful, interactive ability to tell a story all on their own. For now, I will allow the perfume contents to tell their own stories. Until we can expand, I am loving exactly where we are.

I love this, and hope to see more blogs from you. I’d also like to add that i like how easy your bottles are to decant from. I put it in a small vial necklace.
